Sweet Sentiment Craft For Valentine’s Day #TBCCrafters

Sweet Sentiment” #TBCCrafters Hop

So it’s almost Valentine’s day and I saw a craft like this one on Craft Test Dummies Blog and thought it would be fun to make for a Valentine gift for my Mom.  You could change these up however you wish, I just wanted to share the basics on how to do it.  I think next time, I would use separate leaves and vary them on a thicker stem, but these worked well and were simple to slip on.

I wanted to add a quote that I heard to share for this Valentine’s Day:  “The love of God is like the ocean; you can see its’ beginning, but not its end.”  Remember that, when you’re feeling lonely or having troubles.  It’s one to always lean on!  Have a blessed holiday, and please be sure to comment on and share this #TBCCrafters craft, I hope you like it!!

Sweet Sentiment” Craft

Materials/Tools Needed:

  • Chocolate Kisses
  • Green Pipe Cleaners or Wire
  • Floral Tape
  • Scissors
  • Artificial Leaves
  • Red Tissue Paper
  • Glue Dots
  • & Time!1-1024x768

Instructions:

Start by putting a glue dot on the bottom of a candy kiss.2-1024x768

Next, using one of your pipe cleaners or wire, fold it over the bottom (securing it to the dot) with about a 2.5″ overhang.  With the leftover, fold it around the pipe cleaner at the tip to secure.3-1024x768

Once you have it secured, add a glue dot to the bottom of another candy and attach it to the one in the pipe cleaner.4-1024x768

Now we’re going to start wrapping it.  Take about a 8″ x 6″ piece of red tissue paper (or white, pink, etc., depending on you plan to give them to) and fold it over lengthwise twice and then add a small lip.  Insert your candy under that lip at one end of the paper.5-1024x768

Begin rolling the paper around the candy, folding it in places as you go to resemble rose petals.  You can keep it simple or get into this and try to make it as realistic as possible.  Completely up to you.6-1024x768

Once you have the tissue completely rolled, fold down a corner and fold it near the bottom to secure it.  This way, when you tape it, it will hide the folds and edges.  Using floral tape, start at the tip of the candy and work down, until you have the red completely covered and secure.7-1024x768

Now, using whatever you wish for greenery, attach a piece to the bottom.  I was using artificial leaves that I could just insert on the pipe cleaner and drag up to the bottom, but you are welcome to use single leaves and then just do the floral tape all the way down the pipe cleaner or wire to cover as you go – completely your call.8-1024x768-1

When you’ve finished however many you wish to create, you can insert them into a small vase, make a corsage or whatever it is that you think your Valentine would enjoy.  Since I used the pipe cleaners, there wasn’t much stability, so I had to make them where I could lay them down to present them.9-1024x768

Hope you like it!  Leave me a comment and let me know what you would do different, or what you would add, etc.  Be sure to tweet, pin, share, etc. – thanks!!
