Thankful Placemats

Thankful Placemat

Check it Out! Thanksgiving is just about upon us and I am just about done getting my dining room all ready for the big dinner we will have. The only thing I needed was placemats for the table. I didn’t have a supply anymore, especially not holiday related ones so I decided that I’d create my own. I received a package not too long ago that was packed with all of this brown paper, and you know me, I wasn’t about to throw that away! So I spent a little time, flattening and straightening the paper out and then rolled it up. I ended up with 2 pretty good sized paper rolls. This is what I used to create my Thankful Placemats.

I wanted to dress up this plain old paper of course so I decided that adding a way for the family to write down the things they are thankful for would be fun, so I created these “Thankful Placemats”.

My supplies for this project were so simple:
Brown paper
White Paint Pen
Pencil
Fall Leaves
Glue
Ruler

I have these great charger plates that a friend gave me so I used these as my guide for how big to make my placemats. I wanted enough space for the plate as well as the I am Thankful area. Using a metal ruler I ripped my paper instead of cutting it. I wanted that frayed edge look.

Using a pencil so that I could correct any mistakes I wrote the words I am Thankful For and added some lines below using my ruler.

I then simply traced over with my paint pen. I did about 3 coats to make it really pop out. Then I clipped a few fall leaves from a floral pick and added them to the top of my place mat. You could add as many as you want, wherever you want.

Here is how the table looks, now all I have to do is add a jar of pencils to the table and everyone can remember the real reason for this holiday and share with one another on their Thankful Placemats. It’s gonna be great! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

In what creative ways does your family share their thanks?
