Steelers vs Giants, Hurricane Sandy Won’t Stop Fans – Week 9 #NFL Scores

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New York Giants was the game of the week.  Even though many fans were affected by Hurricane Sandy, they filled Metlife Stadium. Some people didn’t have power in their own homes, were dealing with gas shortages, and pure devastation. Sandy affected everyone including Giants quarterback Eli Manning who has been staying in a hotel because Sandy hit his house.

Fans in New York/New Jersey showed the country yet again that they can go through destruction and live on. For these three hours, they weren’t victims, they were die hard fans rooting for their team. There were plenty of Steeler fans waving their towels as well as Giants fans who needed the game to escape life.

“There are so many bigger things going on around here that what we do is not as important as real life,” said Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. “My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone else who are going through so much. “There were so many emotions going on, I didn’t know what to expect from it. But maybe we were able to take their minds off their problems just a little.”

Steelers arriving only a few hours before the game couldn’t get enough rooms for the team near Metlife Stadium and had to receive permission to travel on game day.

Pittsburgh was first to get points on the board with a TD and the Giants answered the points, by getting a 41 yard interference call. It gave the Giants the field position for their TD. It looked like the Steelers were falling apart when Osi Umenyiora hit the ball causing Ben to fumble, Boley raced down for another TD giving Giants the lead 14-7.

Isaac Redman was a one man wrecking crew, plowing through Giants defense and rushed the 1 yard winning TD for a Pittsburgh win 24-20. Redman rushed for his career best, a total of 147 yards.
