These fun snow day activities for kids will keep everyone entertained. Snow days are every child’s—and teacher’s—favorite part of winter. But for parents, they can present a bit of a challenge. How can you keep the kids busy when your city becomes a winter wonderland? It is easy with the following snow day activities. Go out and buy your supplies now, so you are ready when that first snow falls.
Use spray bottles you have at the house or pick some up at the dollar store. Fill them up with water and food coloring and then head outside to make masterpieces. Show your kids how to adjust the nozzle to get different types of sprays that they can use much like different types of brushes.
There are lots of different ways you can do this, and there are even special ice cream makers designed to make ice cream out of snow. However, there is a nice and simple way to do this that requires little fuss and no special equipment.
Scoop four cups of snow into a bowl and then mix it with the following:
½ cup of half and half
¼ cup sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
Just like that, you have tasty, homemade ice cream. Just make sure the snow is clean!
Fill balloons with water mixed with food coloring and let the water freeze. Once the water is frozen solid, cut the balloon away. Just like that, the kids will have giant marbles to push around in the snow and arrange as part of their winter wonderland.
Build a snowman. Have a snowball fight. Make snow angels. We loved these classics as kids, and your kids will love them too. No reason to make things complicated!
