Do you blog when you go on vacation? While not everyone realizes it, blogging is hard work. And working hard means you deserve a vacation. But unlike traditional jobs where you can put in your request for leave, take off, and expect to come back to everything working smoothly, blogging means that you really need to plan how you will keep everything running while you are gone.
Not sure how to make it work? Let us help. Below are a few things to do with your blog when you go on vacation.
Yes, this does mean working when you should be relaxing, but with the right approach, this could be a lot of fun. Blogging your vacation means that you are really thinking about things as you go, and you will be working hard to preserve the memories. If you plan this out right, you could even end up with part of your vacation paid by sponsors, should you agree to mention them in your posts.
If a working vacation isn’t your idea of a vacation, we don’t fault you. Sometimes you just need to get away from it all. In this case, reach out to other bloggers you admire and see if they would be willing to create some guest posts. As part of the deal, make sure they are willing to interact in the comments and on a few of your social media pages so your readers do not feel neglected. The hardest part with this is giving up control, and making sure you schedule it all correctly.
And that brings us to scheduling posts. These would be your own posts that you write in advance and schedule to publish while you are gone. The biggest issues with this option would be that you have to do a lot of work before you can relax and unwind, and the fact that you would not be there to interact with your readers.
Interacting with readers could be solved, however, by hiring an assistant to communicate with them for you. You do want to work with this assistant in advance of your vacation to be sure that you are a good pair. However, if it all works out, this can be the key to actually relaxing when away.
