Have you heard of Google Lens and are you currently using it? Google Lens is a new service that was announced by Google in 2017. At the time, this service was available only for Google Pixel. Earlier this year, consumers were pleased to learn that Google Lens was will soon be available on a variety of other phones including Android.
In fact, you can now get Google Lens from Google Play. So, if you haven’t downloaded it yet to see what it can do, now is the time. If you’re still in the dark about how to use Google Lens and what it is, keep reading for a brief introduction.
Google Lens is an artificial intelligence technology that allows your phone to see things and predict actions based on what it sees. Basically, Google Lens allows you to aim your phone at an object – whether that’s a flower, the ring on your best friend’s finger, or a water bottle. Google will then identify the object you’re pointing at and offer suggestions.
For example, if you point your phone at a red rose, the app will identify the rose and then offer a suggestion of a local florist where you can buy the roses. Of course, it can do much more than that. For example, if you aim your phone at the SSID sticker on the back of your wireless router, it will connect to the Wi-Fi network for you. No further action needed. Just imagine pointing your phone at a restaurant and having Google tell you what the menu options are and what time it’s open?
There are also other things that this technology can do from copying text that you point to onto your phone to identifying plants around you on a walk in the woods.
It’s clear that this technology will become more and more common as people learn about the possibilities. If you want to get started today, just look for the app in the Google Play store.
