So with Fall just around the corner (my favorite time of year), I wanted to make something that always seems to remind us of the season. Not only that, but you can use it as a gift!! Easy to make and I think the hardest part was washing the bottles prior to making this!! 🙂
“Fruits of Fall” Craft
Materials Needed:
- (2) Plastic Bottles
- Scissors
- Red Tissue Paper or Shredded Paper
- Artificial Leaves & Florist Tape
- Thing to Put Inside
- & Time
Instructions:
Start by making sure your bottles have been cleaned and are completely dry. When ready, mark about 2.5-3″ from where the bottle begins to curve at the bottom and cut each one around that area. If you have a larger gift you want to put inside, cut it bigger – just remember, the bigger it gets, the less it looks like an apple.
When finished, you should have (2) separate pieces about the same size. If there seems to be any sharp pieces on the edges where you cut, be sure to sand those or file them down for safety.
Now you can fill the bottom piece with some tissue paper, or whatever you have decided to use to fill, as well as your gift card or gift.
Now using the tip of your scissors or craft knife, poke a hole in the top piece, in the middle for a place to insert your stem.
Once you have that pierced, you can begin to create the top. Begin by filling the top piece with more tissue paper, etc. and then set aside for using when you’ve finished the next few steps.
Cut a piece of your artificial leaf piece to use for the topper.
Once you have that cut, remove the leaves from the top and fold over the wire piece.
Now you can attach the leaves to the “stem” with floral tape, to give it a bit more of a realistic apple look.
Next, just insert the stem into the top, and close up the “apple” pieces and you’re ready to go!! You can always just make these as a decoration for around your home, etc. Hope you like it!!

I agree, Rose – you could even use 2 liter bottles for a larger gift!! Also, you could use orange tissue paper for a pumpkin look, etc. 🙂
