“Ladybug Bowling Ball” #TBCCrafters Hop
I’ve seen things like this on a lot of sites and found a really great one on Love, Pomegranate House‘s website. Thought it would be fun to try out. My husband had his old bowling ball in the garage sale box, since the holes just didn’t fit his hands anymore. I asked him if I could use it for this project and he said “sure”!
It was pretty easy to do and the hardest part was just waiting for the paint to dry! 🙂 Now I’m going to go look around the thrift stores to find some more, so that my little “lady” can have some friends!
I hope you like it!! Have a blessed day, and please be sure to comment on and share this #TBCCrafters craft!!
“Ladybug Bowling Ball“
Instructions:
I started by using an old egg carton to set the bowling ball up on to paint it. I’ve seen that a lot of people use primer and paint this by hand, but I decided to go around all of that and just use spray paint. Much easier and didn’t take as long to do.
Once the paint was dry, I used painters tape to mark the spots to add the black in the middle.
I then let that part dry and went inside to make the antenna part. Using some sprinkler wire that I got from the hardware store, I measured it into about 8″ pieces and clipped off what was not necessary. Using pliers, I curled the ends to give it a more natural look (yeah, like wire for a bug can be natural ha/ha – you know what I mean 😉 )
Now I had those ready and the paint was dry (after a few hours), I made a template of dots on my Cricut and used that to pain the rest of the ladybug body.
I then used some silicone to fill the holes (our store didn’t have black, so I had to use clear). Once the silicone was in, I inserted the antenna and placed it in a way that it could cure without the wires moving. It took a few hours for that to dry and for the pieces to become sturdy.
When the spots had dried, I then used clear spray paint to seal the deal. that way, it makes it harder for it to chip and just looks better over all.
Once that dried, my little ladybug was ready to adorn the yard. I hope to soon make some more, so that it can have some friends. Even adding some “wings” to make a butterfly style one, I think, would be great!!
Please take a minute to leave me a comment and let me know what you would do different, or what you would add, etc. Be sure to tweet, pin, share, etc. – thanks!!

I would bowl with this cute ball, except I’d be afraid I’d wreck it. Very cute craft!
